Jorgos Panetsos was born in Athens/Greece. He studied classical guitar at the National Conservatory of Athens with Andrés Paleologos and continued his musical studies with Luise Walker at the Academy of Music in Vienna, where he received his concert diploma. Among others, several master classes with David Russel and Oscar Ghiglia gave important additional inspiration.
His concerts have taken him not only to most European countries, but also to China, Venezuela, Saudi-Arabia, Thailand and the U.S.A. He has played with various orchestras and ensembles in different countries (e.g. with the Wiener Kammerorchester and the "ORF - Symphonieorchester") and recorded numerous radio and television broadcast productions.
Both his playing and his reputation as teacher have taken him to most big festivals and master classes. He is often invited to juries in international guitar competitions.
Jorgos Panetsos has taught several years at the department of musical psychology at the University of Vienna. He leads guitar classes at the "Privatuniversität für Musik der Stadt Wien" and the "Konservatorium für Musik und Dramatische Kunst in Wien".
In addition to performing and teaching, he works as an editor e.g. for "Universal Edition Wien", and he is the artistic director of the guitar festival "Forum Gitarre Wien".
